Sculptra in Maitland, FL
Replacing collagen with Sculptra may help with lines and wrinkles. At Serrão Rejuvenation Center, Dr. John Serrão – a board certified gynecologist and post-graduate trained cosmetic surgeon specializing in facial rejuvenation – offers Sculptra for women in Orlando, Maitland, Winter Park, and the surrounding areas of Florida.
About Sculptra
Collagen is a key part of young skin, and about the time that we reach 30 years old, our collagen levels begin to decrease. Without collagen, our skin starts to collapse, and this is the beginning of wrinkles. Sculptra is designed to increase the amount of collagen in the skin. Unlike injections that deposit collagen into the skin, Sculptra stimulates collagen production through a natural process.

Sculptra FAQs
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid that is proven to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. The treatment is recommended to restore lost volume, smooth away wrinkles and augment facial features. It provides gradual skin thickness and restoration of fat to treat indentations, sunken cheeks and hollow eyes.
This product is perfect for patients who prefer gradual results versus the immediate improvements that are achieved with other dermal fillers for the same area of the face. Best of all, the results from your Sculptra treatments may last up to two years or longer.
How is Sculptra Administered?
Sculptra is administered by Dr. Serrão using fine needles or cannulas to inject the product into the deeper dermal layers of the skin. Multiple injections are made below the surface of the skin in areas of volume loss to restore the natural lift and youthfulness of your face. At Serrão Rejuvenation Center, we apply a topical anesthetic, cool rollers and offer many options to ensure your comfort during your Sculptra treatment.
How long does a Sculptra treatment take with Dr. Serrão?
Sculptra takes about 45 to 60 minutes depending on the amount of injections required and the size of the treatment area. Dr. Serrão takes his time with injections and uses his true artistry for facial beauty.
What Should I Expect After My Sculptra Treatment?
You may experience some tenderness, swelling, and bruising around the injection sites as they are the most commonly reported symptoms after Sculptra treatments. These symptoms typically last only a few days. To reduce swelling, an ice pack should be applied after treatment. We offer products to aid in the post-injection period such as Arnica Forte and camouflage makeup if necessary.
What are the results of Sculptra and how soon will they appear?
Sculptra shapes facial contours providing a fuller, youthful looking face. You will see an immediate result after the first injection, but this will be absorbed over the next few days, leaving the smaller particles of the product to stimulate your collagen production. The injections are done every four weeks approximately to allow time for the gradual and natural process of re-volumizing your facial contours. Remember, you didn’t age over-night and you can’t anti-age over-night either!
Sculptra results are gradual and a series of injections will be required at four to six-week intervals until your desired correction is achieved. Most people notice improvement after the second series of injections and the number of recommended vials is based on your individual needs.
How long do the Sculptra results last?
Results can last up to two years or more for some patients. Results are also dependent on levels of facial activity and stress.
What are the alternative treatments?
There are other injectables such as Restylane, Radiesse and Juvederm, which provide for immediate results and may require multiple syringes for the desired correction. Also, the results do not last as long as Sculptra. Fat transfer may also be an alternative.
Are there any possible side effects?
There are some possible side effects including nodule formation, swelling, pain, itching and bruising at the injection site. Carefully follow all of the instructions given to you for your Sculptra pre and post care.
Who are candidates for Sculptra?
Those who want to look younger and more refreshed and have realistic expectations are candidates. Sculptra is especially beneficial for those with facial volume loss and immunodeficiency diseases.
How Much Does Sculptra Cost?
We can provide cost information at the time of your consultation after Dr. Serrão develops a personalized treatment plan for you. Would you like to make monthly payments on your Sculptra treatments? Learn more about our financing options.
Can Sculptra be used On Other Body Areas?
Yes, Sculptra has been used in other areas of the body where volume has been lost or is needed to provide for a lift. It is used off label on the labia majora, buttocks, cellulite dimples and thighs. Please note that these type of corrections will require large volumes of Sculptra thus requiring multiple vials to get the desired correction.
